I Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
We give thanks to God knowing that through Christ, he leads us in triumph and manifests the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. (II Corinthians 2:14) We are to be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord knowing that our labor is not in vain. (I Corinthians 15:58)
Jesus was sent from heaven not to do his will, but to do the will of his Father and to finish his work. He did nothing of himself. Jesus only said what he heard his Father say and he only did what he saw his Father do. (John 4:34, John 6:38, John 5:19-20, John 8:28-29, John 12:49-50) John 14:31 says, But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do.... Because he loved him, Jesus obeyed his heavenly Father. He was sent to destroy the works of the devil through obedience only to God's will and his word. Jesus finished his work and we are to finish ours. (John 17:4)
Those of us who know and believe the love God has toward us dwell in God, and he dwells in us. Herein is our love made perfect, because as he is so are we in this world. (I John 4:16-17) We are to abide in the love of Jesus Christ by keeping his commandments, just as he kept his Father's commandments and abides in his love. (John 15:10)
Jesus said, the Father that dwells in me, he does the works. (John 14:10-11) I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work. (John 9:4-5) What are these works and how are we to do them? Mark 16:15-18 describes the commands Jesus Christ gave to his disciples after he was risen from the dead. As willing vessels of God's grace and power, we are led by the Holy Spirit as we go in Jesus' name into all the world preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ with signs following. We go knowing that God has given us victory over every evil work of the enemy. Jesus said, If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14:12-14)
Remember, as he is, so are we in this world. As John 5:30 says, I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. The words Jesus spoke were taught to him by his Father. He said, And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. (John 8:28-29)
The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth. He will not speak of himself just as Jesus did not speak of himself. Whatsoever he hears, that will he speak and he will show us things to come. (John 16:13-15) Just as Jesus only spoke what his Father said and only did what he saw his Father do, we by the Holy Spirit are to please and glorify the Father by doing the same as he shows us what to do and tells us what to say. Believe on the name of Jesus, then speak and do the word only in his name. (Colossians 3:17) Overcome the world by believing that Jesus is the Son of God. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. (I John 5:4-5)
